Bukayo Saka’s first big game was at Man Utd – but ace proves he’s Arsenal through and through with dream match pick

ARSENAL star Bukayo Saka has revealed the first big match he ever went to was a Manchester United one at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old came through the Gunners’ youth set-up before establishing himself as a key first team player during the 2019/20 campaign.

But surprisingly, the first big game the England international ever attended was at the home of rivals Manchester United.

Speaking in his programme notes ahead of the clash with the Red Devils, he said: “I’m not sure I should really say this, but probably the first big game I remember going to was when my dad took me to Old Trafford when I was little.

“I have to say, though, it was really nice because there are some special players that have played there in the past so it was nice to go and watch a football game there with my family.”

Saka was then asked which match he would like to have been at if he could choose from throughout history.

“If I had to choose one Arsenal match I’d probably want to watch us win the league at White Hart Lane in 2004,” he added.

“That would be so sick to watch, I think, and the vibes after must have been amazing.

He then went on to add: “So I’d pick that game for selfish reasons, but I have to say that if I could be present at any game purely entertainment it would be Barcelona vs PSG in the Champions League from 2017.”

The match Saka is talking about is the second leg of the Champions League last 16 tie between the Catalan giants and Ligue 1 winners.

Under Unai Emery, who would go on to become Arsenal manager, PSG won the first leg 4-0 at the Parc des Princes.

But in the greatest comeback in Champions League history, Barcelona claimed a remarkable 6-1 victory at the Nou Camp to go through 6-5 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Saka heads into the Man Utd clash off the back of a sensational performance in a 4-2 win over Chelsea.

The youngster tormented Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso, before sealing the victory in stoppage-time by winning and tucking away a penalty.

Arsenal can leapfrog local rivals Spurs in the race for fourth if they avoid defeat to Ralf Rangnick’s side.

Tottenham then have the opportunity to respond at 5.30pm against an in-form Brentford.
