Ever dream of being on “The Voice” or, for those with longer memories, “Star Search” perhaps?
If so, the city of Dublin is offering an opportunity for you and other vocalists who aren’t afraid of singing outside the confines of a car or karaoke bar to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Dublin’s Independence Day celebration at Dublin Coffman High School.
Dublin will resume its full-on Independence Day celebration July 4, including a parade through historic Dublin and a fireworks display at the Coffman High School football stadium, 6780 Coffman Road.
Dublin City Council meets at Dublin City Hall, 5555 Perimeter Drive.
The city is seeking a soloist or a small group to perform the national anthem, said Shirley Blaine, Dublin’s public-information officer.
Candidates must be graduating seniors from Coffman, Jerome or Scioto high school or a student who lives in Dublin but graduated from a charter, parochial or other high school. Students living in the school district but outside the city limit and who did not graduate from a Dublin city school, are not eligible, Blaine said.
Interested candidates may apply online at dublinohiousa.gov/independence-day-celebration/.
The deadline is 5 p.m. May 20.
Applicants will be asked to submit a live recording of their performance, and a selection will be made after a committee reviews and votes on the submitted performances, Blaine said.
Additional details about the city’s Independence Day celebration will be announced closer to the event date via the city’s official website, dublinohiousa.gov and its social-media accounts.
