Mother’s Day is a little over two weeks away. If you’re on the hunt for the perfect bouquet online or shopping locally, there are a few hacks you can use to find the best deal. Plus, there’s still a bit of time left to weigh your options. We’ve assembled some of the best deals available from top online florists and compiled some tips you can use to find the perfect arrangement for mom whether you’re hitting the keyboards or the sidewalk.

TopTenReviews says “a reliable service with a great product – but our positive experience doesn’t reflect that of the large number of negative customer reviews.”

Tips for getting a deal on flowers for Mother’s Day

Don’t forget to price check with your local floristAn open secret in the floral industry is that when you order from a number of online flower sites, it is local florists who are fulfilling your order anyway. When you order flowers online, you may pay service fees to the online retailer for doing the work of contacting that florist for you. So it’s important to price check online flowers (make sure you add in the service fees) with local florist flowers to make sure you’re getting the best deal. 

Make a creative DIY bouquetIf you’re working within a tight budget, but want to buy your mother beautiful flowers anyway, consider visiting a brick and mortar storefront, and buying unique and fresh stems directly from a florist, suggests Sachi Rose, a New York-based florist. Anissa Manzo, the founder and lead designer of Urban Poppy in Savannah, Georgia, notes that you can take these stems, and combine them with foliage from your backyard, or less expensive flowers that you can buy at a bodega or big box store. A vase can be easily purchased at a dollar store or the supermarket.

Consider a blooming plant

Another alternative, notes Dan McManus, the president of Team Floral, is buying a blooming plant from a florist — for example, a peace lily or an amaryllis. “The florist will dress it up in a foil container, with a bow,” he says. “It will give the plant more of an emotional value.”
