Porter explains main key for how he can contribute to Warriors

Otto Porter Jr. has the opportunity to have a major role with the Warriors in 2021-22.

The 28-year-old — who is joining the franchise on a veteran’s minimum contract — discussed his role with KRON4’s Jason Dumas.

“Spacing the floor, shoot the wide-open three [and] create for others,” Porter said. “But ultimately I think for me [it is] defense. Being able to switch [on to] multiple players, play different roles and different positions is very key.

“Being versatile.”

Porter over three seasons from 2017 to 2019 shot just under 43 percent from deep on 4.3 attempts per game.

And at 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Porter possesses the tools to make an impact defensively.

The key is staying healthy.

The No. 3 overall pick from the 2013 draft appeared in just 14 games in 2019-20 and 28 games last season.

“Body is feeling really good,” he told Dumas. “First time in a while that my body is really feeling good.

“I feel like myself.”

And that is great news for the Warriors.
