Ex-Broncos LB Todd Davis retires from the NFL

Former Denver Broncos linebacker Todd Davis has retired after a seven-year career in the NFL, according to the league’s transaction wire.
Davis decided to hang up his cleats just a few days after signing with the New York Giants. The Giants had a tumultuous practice Tuesday, but it’s unclear if that played any role in Davis’ decision to retire.
Davis, 29, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State with the New Orleans Saints in 2014. After being waived by the Saints three months into his rookie season, Davis was picked up by Denver.
Davis went on to spend six years with the Broncos, helping the team win Super Bowl 50 following the 2015 season. Davis played in 82 games (including 63 starts) with Denver, totaling 448 tackles, 21 tackles for losses, two sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, one interception and one defensive touchdown.
After being cut by the Broncos in 2020, Davis was signed by the Minnesota Vikings. He played in 11 games last year, totaling 35 tackles and one sack.
