Charlie Austin has pinpointed Aaron Wan-Bissaka as Manchester United’s weak link after facing the £50million full-back during QPR’s 4-2 win over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in last weekend’s pre-season friendly.
Wan-Bissaka joined United from Crystal Palace two years ago and has firmly established himself as United’s first choice right back, despite reports claiming Solskjaer harbours concerns over the 23-year-old’s attacking contributions.
The England Under-21 international looked understandably rusty on Saturday as The Championship side cantered to a 4-2 win at Loftus Road, just hours after news broke that Solskjaer had signed a three-year contract extension.

Two of the goals came down Wan-Bissaka’s wing, with Austin also profiting from a lack of marking to head home an instant equaliser following Jesse Lingard’s opener.
United have been heavily linked with a move for Kieran Trippier this summer, with the Euro 2020 star desperate to return to the Premier League after two reputation enhancing seasons with Atletico Madrid and Austin believes United should be doing all they can to recruit the former Tottenham defender.
He told talkSPORT: ‘Although Manchester United have signed [Raphael] Varane, their biggest problem is they need a right-back.

‘Aaron Wan-Bissaka is not up to the [required] quality. We played them the other day, and I know it was only a pre-season, but they need to go all out for Kieran Trippier.
‘That’s who they’re crying out for. Aaron Wan-Bissaka can’t defend!
‘And his final ball is not what a centre-forward wants, it’s not what [Edinson] Cavani wants, it’s not what [Marcus] Rashford wants. They need to sign Kieran Trippier.’

Asked by former Arsenal defender Ray Parlour if it was just one bad game for Wan-Bissaka against QPR, Austin replied: ‘You can always have a bad game, it was just a pre-season friendly.
‘With all due respect, if Aaron Wan-Bissaka is your right-back, are Man United going to win Premier Leagues and silverware? I’m not too sure.
‘They need to strengthen there, definitely.’
