He may be readying to face off against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley at the end of August, but YouTube star Jake Paul is already looking ahead to a future clash with The Notorious – and claims negotiations for a fight are well underway.

Speaking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Paul said: “I think it will happen. Look, I mean, I’m the money fight for Conor McGregor right now. There is no other fighter right now who is on a bigger level than me that is calling out Conor McGregor and wants to fight Conor.

“Our team is in touch with his team and there’s talks of it actually happening. And people at first thought I was just joking when I said I wanted to fight him. But now it’s as real as it gets, it’s more real than ever and by the way, if we do fight, I’m going to knock him out.”

Despite having only fought three professional boxing bouts so far, Paul, 24, was confident in his ability to defeat the 33-year-old Irishman, adding “I think Tyron Woodley is a harder opponent than Conor McGregor.”

“Conor, I think the fame, the money has got to his head, he’s lost that fighter’s edge, that motivation. And look, he’s a smaller guy. He’s five, what, eight? He’s 155-pounds, Tyron Woodley is a 200-pound, massive, explosive guy, so he’s a lot more dangerous fighter than Conor McGregor.”

McGregor is currently holed up indoors with a broken leg, an injury he sustained in a bout with Dustin Poirier earlier this month. It’s the second time McGregor has lost to the American in just six months, following his second-round knock-out back in January.

Given the extent of his injury – a brutal snapped tibia – The Notorious has been handed a medical suspension by the UFC for six months, and will be unable to return to the ring until January 7, 2022, unless he can receive clearance from a doctor.

Paul’s comments come after he sent Poirier a $100,000 diamond necklace mocking McGregor to congratulate his win. Should the talks lead to a boxing match, it’s still a little while off – giving both parties plenty of time to troll each other some more.
