A TV special about BTS is to air on BBC One exploring the band’s stratospheric rise to stardom and their dedicated fanbase known as the ARMY, as the pop group makes their Radio 1 Live Lounge debut.
After forming a decade ago, South Korean boy band BTS has reached unprecedented levels of fame across the globe over the past few years.
In 2017, Radio 1 played BTS music for the very first time, a moment that radio presenter Adele Roberts will relive in the upcoming BBC special called BTS @ Radio 1.
Four years later, they are set to make their debut from South Korea in Radio 1’s Live Lounge, where they will perform their hit song Dynamite, their new single Permission to Dance and a special cover of Puff Daddy and Faith Evans’ track I’ll Be Missing You, which will sample The Police’s Every Breath You Take.
In the TV special, Adele will look back on her trip to Seoul in 2018, when she met the band’s choreographer, the minister for K-pop and members of BTS’ passionate ARMY.
She will also interview the band ahead of their Live Lounge performance, stating that she is ‘beyond excited’ to be connecting with them.
Speaking about BTS’ Live Lounge performance, Adele said: ‘I am so happy for BTS fans worldwide especially our very own UK Army.
‘They have been so passionate, so supportive and have hoped for a Radio 1 Live Lounge since the first time we played the band. Four years later, BTS have broken records, barriers & boundaries.
‘That dream is now going to be a reality. I’m beyond excited for us to finally be hosting the biggest boy band in the world!’
BTS’ Live Lounge performance is set to take place a day before the BBC special is released.
Numerous BTS fans expressed their excitement over their upcoming debut in the coveted Live Lounge, with one tweeting that it’s ‘amazing’ that it’s ‘finally happening’.
