Craig Gardner’s name is trending on Twitter after Birmingham City and Pep Clotet agreed to part ways at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
The season is due to finally reach a conclusion shortly before August after a three-month break because of the coronavirus pandemic and Clotet will remain in charge until the campaign ends.

June 20 is when second tier football returns with Blues last playing a match on March 7.
Clotet’s departure means Blues fans, who won’t be able to attend any of their club’s remaining matches this season, will have seen the last last of the Spaniard.
Where Gardner comes in is that he is a first-team coach – as well as a player – with the former Aston Villa man being appointed to the role under Clotet in November.
With some clubs in the English Football League (EFL) seeing their manager depart to be replaced by a player-coach, Blues fans are fearing the same will happen to their side..
Gardner ‘s name is trending on social media, such is the buzz created by Blues fans who are keen on a fresh face being brought into the club.
He came into the club for a second time in January 2017 and has made 125 career appearances for Blues.
Gardner’s sole outing came in the disappointing 3-0 defeat to Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup in August.
He is the brother of fellow Blues midfielder Gary, who joined the club from Aston Villa in August.
Clotet joined Blues in 2018 as Garry Monk’s assistant and took over the role of head coach in the summer.
