City of Trier Spared From ‘Disaster Tourism’, Local Authorities Say

Spared #Spared

Local authorities in Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate said the city had been spared from disaster tourism as it continued clean up efforts on July 18.

In a Tweet, originally written in German, the authorities said they posted footage of the clean up in the suburb of Ehrang “for everyone who thankfully spared us disaster tourism.”

Authorities in other parts of Germany have also asked people not to “tour a disaster area” where people had suffered so much loss.

At least 110 people have died in the floods in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, according to reports. The death toll across Europe rose to at least 180 on Sunday. Credit: @Stadt_Trier via Storyful
