While the Phoenix Suns are knotted at 2-2 against the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Finals, many are still pondering if the Los Angeles Lakers could’ve defeated Phoenix in the first round if fully healthy.

The Lakers had a 2-1 series lead after three games, but when Anthony Davis went down with a knee sprain, followed by a groin injury in Game 4, the outlook for L.A. looked bleak.

Phoenix took advantage of Los Angeles’ injuries and did what it needed to: blowout L.A. and progress to the next series.

The entire series heated up on various occasions, especially in Game 3 when the Lakers bench erupted after LeBron James took Jae Crowder to school with an entertaining spin move.

Eventually, however, the Suns had the last laugh after eliminating the defending champions in six games. Several members of the Suns pulled out their own dance moves in response to the Lakers, and Crowder utilized a salsa dance.

Before the Suns played the Bucks in Game 4 of the finals, Crowder explained Phoenix’s actions after defeating L.A., via NBA on ESPN:

“All it came from was, I don’t know if y’all remember Game 3, they [Lakers] did a lot on the sidelines in Game 3. And that ruffled a lot of feathers on our side, and that gave us a little extra spark of motivation. That’s all it was…We waited until the last 30 seconds of defeat to let our trash-talking do the talking, and that’s what you saw.”

Next season’s matchups between the Suns and Lakers should be intriguing encounters as both teams will look to compete for the top spot in the Western Conference.
