People are losing it at this American Love Island fan trying to understand Brad McLelland’s accent

This year’s Love Island has brought us a lot of drama already. From the controversial Line of Booty challenge to viewers complaints about the lack of chemistry between the contestants, it feels like a lot has happened already. But over on Reddit something even funnier is going down after an American Love Island fan asked users to help her understand Brad McLelland’s accent, explaining that she understands “approximately 20% of the words that have come out of Brad’s mouth.”

The anonymous fan took to Reddit to ask users for, essentially, a breakdown of Brad’s accent or maybe some kind of handy glossary to help them understand what exactly was going on.

“Is Brad’s accent common around the UK?” they asked. “I hope this doesn’t come off as ignorant, but as an American I thought I had a pretty firm grasp on UK accents. As it turns out, I do not, because I can only understand approximately 20% of the words that have come out of Brad’s mouth. Dating British guys and watching countless British TV shows has not adequately prepared me for this.”

They finished by saying, “That being said, I understand enough to know that I don’t like him.” Incredible.

The question has been ranking in upvotes, with other users helpfully coming to the rescue with long lists of terminology for essential revision. One user also left this hilarious comment, “I am proper loving Brad’s accent, although sometimes I do wish I didn’t understand what he was saying.”
