A high end national estate agency has launched an investigation into racists tweets posted after England’s Euro defeat.

Savills, which has offices across the country including Liverpool, issued a statement after racist tweets were allegedly posted by one of its employees.

Savills has launched an investigation into one, now-deleted, string of tweets that include racists language and made reference to domestic violence following the loss.

One of the alleged tweets used the ‘N word’, Wales online reports.

A statement from Savills posted to Twitter said that they are ‘immediately investigating’ and will take ‘appropriate action.’

On the tweet, Savills, which has an office on Princes Parade in the city centre, said: “Savills is committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity amongst our workforce. A full investigation will be carried out in regards to this unacceptable incident.”

It added: “Savills abhors and has zero tolerance to any form of racism and racial discrimination and is appalled by the racist comments in these tweets. Savills is immediately investigating and will take appropriate action.”

England’s defeat has prompted an outburst of abuse online, with many of the hateful comments attacking the three young black players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka.

The online abuse has also lead to action from the Metropolitan Police which has also said it’s investigating “offensive and racist” messages seen on social media.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson similarly condemned the outbursts, tweeting: “This England team deserve to be lauded as heroes, not racially abused on social media. Those responsible for this appalling abuse should be ashamed of themselves.”

The FA said in a statement it was “appalled” by the abuse of the three players whose squad had taken a knee before each match during the Euros to signal its support for ending racial inequality.
