Mo Brooks tells CPAC crowd to fight like soldiers at Valley Forge

U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) urged conservatives Friday to “fight for America” like the colonial soldiers who endured a freezing winter at Valley Forge during the American Revolution.

“That’s the kind of sacrifice we have to think about,” he said.

Brooks, who is running for the Senate in 2022, ended his speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) meeting asking if America is “worth fighting for.”

When the crowd cheered back, Brooks said, “Then I implore you. Do it! Do it! Do it!”

“Our choice is simple: we can surrender or we can fight back,” Brooks said of the situation facing conservatives now. He has “never felt such fear for the future of our country,” Brooks said, because “dictatorial socialists want to cancel America.”

Brooks is being sued by U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-N.Y.) for remarks in a Jan. 6 Trump rally in Washington before the rally crowd stormed the U.S. Capitol.

Brooks has responded that urging Americans on Jan. 6 to “kick ass” referred to the coming 2022 and 2024 elections.

Brooks’ lawyers are seeking to dismiss that suit on the grounds he was acting in his official capacity and can’t be sued.

The CPAC crowd was enthusiastic about Brooks’ speech, but other media reports said the biggest cheer at the convention Friday followed a shout from the audience that “Trump won!” the 2020 election during remarks by the former president’s son, Donald Trump Jr.
