Liverpool are reportedly willing to challenge Arsenal in the pursuit to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.
After the recent departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, it is well-known that The Reds need a replacement. Despite the Athletic’s James Pearce stating that a Wijnaldum successor isn’t “regarded as a necessity”.
According to various reports, Bissouma will cost around £40 million. Brighton have set this price tag after Bissouma becoming a pivotal player for Graham Potter’s side.

Bissouma has played for The Seagulls for three years now and has evolved to be one of their key players. Having Premier League experience, if Liverpool were to sign him, he wouldn’t have to adapt to the Premier League and could hit the ground running straight away.
Bissouma played 36 games in the Premier League 20/21 season for Brighton, which will be a big positive for Liverpool as they look for someone to replace Wijnaldum who rarely missed a game.
With Wijnaldum leaving for free to PSG, Liverpool have been left with seven central midfielders which looking at it looks to be enough cover. But as Liverpool found out this season at centre-half, they will not want to take any risks.
Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are two of those options and with their injury record, a pursuit for Bissouma, or any central midfielder, is imperative.

Brighton and Hove Albion have lined up a move for Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Enock Mwepu, this could indicate they are looking to replace the Malian midfielder.
Liverpool still have over a month to bring in players to bolster their squad which is a lot of time, but Klopp usually likes to bring players in before pre-season. Although, I don’t expect anything to come to fruition until the Euros has finished.
