Summer heat continues, lots of sunshine expected on Saturday

Good Saturday #GoodSaturday

Saturday will be a good day to get outside and you won’t have to worry about avoiding storms like on Friday. Just be sure to take the water bottle with you as the summer heat continues.

We’ll see a lot of sunshine Saturday without the thunder and lightning like we saw on Friday. It’ll be a great day to head to the lake or park.

“It looks a whole lot different compared to what we were dealing with yesterday,” WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood said. “Today, we are seeing drier conditions.”

Current Temperatures, DMA

At one point, planes were grounded at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Friday afternoon from the strong storms.

It’ll be toasty on Saturday, with temperatures in the 90s. We’ll stay dry Saturday morning and afternoon.

Saturday morning forecast

We’ll top out at 91 degrees on Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds. The muggy meter is at steamy with a dew point of 69, making the ‘feels like’ temperature at 96.

Temperatures are in the upper 60s and lower 70s to start the day. Visibility is low in some spots so be sure to take it slow on the roads if you encounter fog.

Weekend outlook

Sunday calls for a high of 89 degrees with more cloud cover and a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. A 40% chance of rain is forecasted with the highest possibility for rain coming in the afternoon. Make sure to have the WRAL Severe Weather App with you to hear first if there’s any thunderstorms around.

We’ll see hot temperatures over the next several days as we’ll head back into the 90s, starting on Tuesday.
