Meghan McCain will announce Thursday that she is stepping down from her position as co-host on the ABC daytime talk show “The View” at the end of July, according to a report.
The Daily Mail reported that the 36-year-old personality has two years left on her contract. She’s spent the last four years on the talk show, where she’s acted as an outspoken conservative voice.
Her co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro, and Sunny Hostin, were unaware of McCain’s resignation, the website said.
“We have tried to keep her, but she is adamant that now is the right time for her to leave,” a source from ABC News’ parent company, Disney, told The Daily Mail.
Before hosting “The View,” McCain — who is the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — wrote for The Daily Beast and contributed to Fox News and MSNBC.
