GMB: Martin Lewis walks back into the studio
Susanna Reid, 50, was joined by Martin Lewis to host this week’s instalments of the show as a number of presenters continue to replace Piers Morgan, 56. The pair had a strong start as they interviewed a number of guests and spoke about topical matters making the headlines. However, the former Strictly Come Dancing star couldn’t believe it when her co-host was absent from his seat when the cameras returned to the Good Morning Britain studio following a short break.
As the show’s theme tune played out, the camera panned to show Susanna and news anchor Charlotte Hawkins, 46, sat in their places.
Laughter could be heard in the background and the only host sat at the desk arranged her papers and prepared to present by herself.
“He’s gone already,” Charlotte declared as Susanna was seen holding her arms up as she didn’t have an excuse to tell viewers.
“I don’t know what I said,” she jokingly remarked as Martin was seen walking back through the studio doors.
“I was thinking I would walk, I would go,” the Money Saving Expert remarked as he made his way back to his seat.

Explaining himself, Martin said: “The truth is people, when you’re new to a job and you’ve been drinking tea since seven o’clock this morning and then you can’t find the loo in the ad break, you might occasionally be late back to your desk.
“Move on, Susanna, help me,” the presenter told his co-host, who said he had revealed “too much information”.
Taking a swipe at Piers’ exit from the role, Susanna quipped: “We’ve got an issue with people leaving this programme.
“So I’m glad you’re back,” she added before carrying on with the rest of the show as the clock was ticking.

Another posted on the social media platform: “Susanna … ‘We’ve got an issue with people leaving the studio!’ Martin and Susanna are great together.”
Others expressed their support for the Money Saving Expert being a host, with a third commenting: “Martin Lewis – finally, a decent person to present the show.”
“Martin Lewis on GMB is a breath of fresh air this morning, doing very well so far #MartinLewis #GMB,” a fourth shared.

Sharing the news he was going to be in the hot seat, Martin said: “For 15 years I loved answering questions on GMB.
“Now I’m stoked to get a chance to ask them, as a guest presenter; both on key consumer issues eg scams, plus I’m up for holding power to account on all issues.”
Editor of the show, Neil Thompson added: “Trust has been and continues to be hugely important throughout the pandemic, and I can’t think of many people more trustworthy than Martin Lewis.
“Our viewers rely upon us to deliver the very best breaking news, debates and entertainment into their homes each morning.”
“And they will no doubt welcome seeing Martin – a journalist and broadcaster at the top of his game – sitting at the GMB desk this June,” the editor continued.
It has been reported Martin will be joining Susanna from Monday through to Wednesday in a one-off stint.
Whether he will replace Piers for the foreseeable is yet to be seen but viewers have been extremely impressed with his performance.
The likes of Ben Shephard, 46, Adil Ray, 47, Alastair Campbell, 64, and Richard Madeley, 65, have all featured as a host.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
