Vernon police said they have made a fourth arrest in a May assault they believe led to a man’s shooting.
The juvenile was arrested Monday; he is the third person under 18 charged as a result of the May 2 assault at Park West Drive apartments on Terrace Drive — the same complex in which a man in his 20s was seriously injured when he was shot multiple times May 11. The man survived.
All three of the juveniles were charged with second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, police said, as was Javon Nelson, 20, of Vernon.
The May 2 assault was on a juvenile, Sgt. Robert Marra said Tuesday.
“The May 2, 2021 incident appears to be the precursor of the May 11, 2021 shooting,” he said. “This has been an ongoing feud between two groups of young men that has escalated over the years.”
Police continue to investigate the case. They ask that anyone with information call them at 860-872-9126.
