DETROIT – The day has arrived and the Detroit Pistons know where they will make their pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. The Pistons will pick first overall after winning the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday night.

This will the first time since 1970, when they selected Bob Lanier out of St. Bonaventure, that the Pistons will have the No. 1 pick.

Point guard Cade Cunningham of Oklahoma State is widely projected to go first overall. The draft will take place on July 29.

Heading into the Lottery, the Pistons had one of their best chances of getting the top pick in decades. Detroit (20-46) ended the season with the second-worst record in the NBA and was tied with the Houston Rockets and Orlando Magic. Each of the three teams had a 14 percent chance of landing the top pick.

The Pistons had a 20.1 percent chance of falling to sixth, the lowest it could fall in this year’s lottery. Its best odds were at No. 5 (27.8 percent).

Detroit has been in the eight of the past 11 draft lotteries. The Pistons have held their spot, based on their record, in four of them and dropped one spot in two others. Last year they fell two spots, where they selected point guard Killian Hayes with the seventh overall pick.

Here are the top 14 picks as determined by the lottery:
