Bryson DeChambeau came an inch away from getting a hole-in-one on the par 3 8th hole during Sunday’s final round of the U.S. Open.

His tap-in birdie gave him a 1-stroke lead and it seemed like DeChambeau was ready to go on and defend his title.

But then he completely fell apart on the back 9 and wasn’t a factor down the stretch, finishing with a final round 77 that gave him a T-26 finish at +3 for the tournament, nine strokes behind the winner, Jon Rahm.

DeChambeau had back-to-back bogeys on 11 and 12 and then had a double bogey on the par-5 13th, a brutal stretch that dropped him down the leaderboard.

The tires completely came off on 17 where he had quadruple bogey 8 that included this awful shank on a chip shot by the green.
