Fans have gone wild for Kylian Mbappe’s sumptuous backheel pass during France’s Euro 2020 clash against Hungary on Saturday.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward expertly controlled a lofted pass forward from Antoine Griezmann, before cheekily flicking the ball into team-mate Karim Benzema’s path with his heel while facing away from goal.

Real Madrid striker Benzema missed the opportunity, firing the ball wide, but supporters nonetheless took to social media to show their appreciation for Mbappe’s wonderful touch.

BBC presenter Gary Lineker tweeted: ‘I just love watching Kylian Mbappe play. So ridiculously good.’

One fan responded: ‘Best player in the world on current form IMO (in my opinion),’ with another calling him an ‘absolute superstar’.

A third added: ‘That run he just did in the box specifically reminded me of Pele, such similar balance and acceleration.’

France conceded in first-half stoppage time to Attila Fiola’s strike, before Antoine Griezmann’s second-half equaliser secured a point for Didier Deschamps’ side as they could only draw 1-1.

The result does leave France top of Group F, widely considered the ‘Group of Death’, on four points, with Portugal and Germany set to play later on Saturday afternoon.

France then play Portugal in Hungary on Wednesday June 23 in a match which will likely decide which teams qualify for the knockout stages.
