The playoffs is known for it’s physicality. After all, in a series where every game matters, defenses tend to elevate. However, it’s pretty rare to see a player get bloodied like Milwaukee Bucks guard Pat Connaughton.

In the third quarter of their Game 4 showdown with the Brooklyn Nets, Connaughton took an inadvertent elbow from Joe Harris while attempting to get the rebound.

Sure enough, it was clear it’s not intentional. However, it still forced Pat Connaughton to head to the locker room after getting a cut on his face near his left eye. Here’s a look at the veteran guard bleeding after the incident:

You hate to see incidents like this, especially since it can be dangerous for the player. Fortunately, Pat Connaughton was able to return to the game and make his impact to the Bucks in their bid to tie the series.

Connaughton is an integral part of the Bucks’ rotation. While he is only putting up 4.7 points per game in the playoffs prior to Sunday’s game, his defense has been crucial for Milwaukee. Had he been ruled out for the rest of the night, the Bucks would have surely struggled without his presence and activity on the floor.

For what it’s worth, Connaughton finished with eight points, two rebounds, three assists, four steals and two blocks in the 107-96 win. He had the second-highest plus-minus rating on the team with  +23, only behind Giannis Antetokounmpo (+29). It’s safe to say he is the hero of the contest, and he even took one (elbow) for the team!
