Samoa Joe returned to WWE NXT and declined an offer from William Regal to become General Manager. Instead, Joe suggested he act as an enforcer for Regal where he “cannot lay a hand on anyone unless provoked.”

WWE NXT was set abuzz by the rumored return of Samoa Joe, who was reportedly backstage after days of rumors that WWE wanted him back. Joe was released back in April with a host of other main roster talents in what began a staggering wave of releases that have continued to this day.

For the past several weeks, WWE NXT storylines have involved chaotic brawls with longtime General Manager William Regal helpless to stop them. At the conclusion of WWE NXT TakeOver In Your House, Regal strongly hinted that a change was to come, which led to natural speculation that the change would be in the form of a returning Samoa Joe.

A former two-time NXT champion, Samoa Joe was sidelined due to concussion issues while on the main roster. Samoa Joe served as a commentator throughout the pandemic before being fired just days after WWE temporarily returned to live crowds for WrestleMania 37.

WWE NXT will also feature a million-dollar coronation for LA Knight, an open challenge from Kushida and Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai vs. Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter.

Last week’s broadcast of WWE NXT remained stagnant with 669,000 viewers.

Regal’s apparent farewell promo was better than some WWE Hall of Fame speeches.

William Regal cut a fantastic, emotional promo about what NXT meant to him. This is exactly what this had to be, and by the end of it I felt like they might be making a mistake by (kayfabe) letting him go from this position.

If O’Reilly, Cole, Gargano and Dunne are the Mount Rushmore if NXT, boy does this main event scene need diversity.

Samoa Joe’s return was made even more promising by the tease of one day facing Karrion Kross, even if Joe was in a suit.
