The Facebook page says “Chick-fil-A Fort Gratiot Twp” and its address lists 24th Avenue, but both township officials and the company say the restaurant is not currently planning on coming to Fort Gratiot.

Fort Gratiot Township Supervisor Rob Crawford said the company has not contacted the township about a new location and the Facebook page appears to be fake.

“We are not aware of Chick-fil-A locating to Fort Gratiot at this time,” he said.

And in an email the company confirmed it is not associated with the Facebook page.

“We are always evaluating potential new locations in the hopes of serving existing and new customers great food with remarkable service. While we hope to serve the Fort Gratiot Township in the future, we do not currently have any locations to confirm,” the company said in a statement.

The Facebook page in question, which had activity starting in late March, has ramped up in the past couple days with posts saying to check back for more information on the Fort Gratiot location.

A message sent to the page asking about its affiliation with the company was not returned. The page had 530 likes and 624 followers as of Friday morning.

The page’s listed address, 4783 24th Ave., is the township’s former Golden Corral which closed in December 2019 after operating for over 10 years.

Crawford said the building owners sold the equipment in the building and moved it out. They have not applied for any permits for activities like demolishing the building at this time.

According to Kramer Commercial Realty’s website, the 8,066 square feet of commercial space on 1.81 acres of land is available for sale or lease and is listed for $2,200,000.

The building is located on a high-traffic commercial corridor, has excellent exposure and approximately 90 parking spaces, according to the listing.

“Perfect for stand-alone restaurant, urgent care/primary care facility, office or retail,” it states.
