20:13:43 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: Eng 25-2, NZ 378 all out.  That’s tea.

England in trouble at the break. New Zealand well on top, thanks to Devon Conway’s incredible double century. He became only the second New Zealand batsman to make a double ton on Test debut. After his 200, Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee got a wicket apiece to put England two down. All eyes on Joe Root now.

19:56:37 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: Eng 18-2, NZ 378 all out. WICKET – Zak Crawley c Watling b Southee 2.

Full outswinger, Crawley looks to drive and gets an edge. That’s a loose shot. England in trouble early. They need Joe Root to step up now.

19:39:19 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: Eng 4-1, NZ 378 all out. WICKET – Dom Sibley lbw Kyle Jamieson 0.

A very good outswinger. Squares up the batsman and hits him on the pad. He reviews. Impact and hitting umpire’s call around off stump, so stays out. NZ with an early wicket.

19:16:12 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 378 all out.

And soon after Conway’s double century, he is run out for the same score to bring curtains to his innings as well as his team’s. Top effort from the debutant. Has score more than half of the team’s score. England will be happy with their effort today but NZ have a good score on board. Can they strike some early blows?

19:11:28 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 377/9: DOUBLE CENTURY FOR DEVON CONWAY!

Gets there slamming Mark Wood for a six. What a way to bring up a stunning milestone – only the second New Zealand player to score a double ton on debut. This is terrific stuff, helped by Neil Wagner who is hanging around.

18:44:47 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 338/9: WICKET – Tim Southee c Bracey b Anderson 8.

Swinging away, and nicked behind. Southee hung in there for a while but is gone. Conway is on 186 at the other end. Can he make it to 200?

18:15:41 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 317/8: WICKET – Kyle Jamieson c Crawley b Robinson 9.

That’s his fourth wicket. A bouncer to tempt the tall batsman. Jamieson hooks, but doesn’t connect well. Baloons a catch to deep square. Good catch running forward. What a debut this is turning out to be for Robinson.

17:38:34 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 314/7 and Lunch has been taken. Fantastic comeback from England in the second half of the first session. Kiwis started the day at 246/3 and lost the plot as they were reduced to 296/7. Courtesy some very fine bowling from Mark Wood who went onto take figures of 3/64. Meanwhile he was well supported by debutante Olie Robinson who also took a three-for. The hosts needed some inspiration and it is the youngsters who delivered even as the likes of Anderson and Broad saw from the sidelines. The game is getting interesting.

17:29:34 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 308/7—This game is getting interesting. NZ started the day in a very solid manner and after the first 45 minutes it looked like they are taking the upper hand but some inspirational bowling by Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson made sure that England come back into the game. Kiwis went onto lose three wickets in real quick time. Watling, Grandhomme and Santner were never able to buy some time as Conway at the other end saw a number of wickets fall helplessly.

17:03:33 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 293/6—WICKET. De Grandhomme departs for a DUCK! Ollie Robinson gets his third wicket. There is a healthy competition going on between him and Mark Wood and as a result, NZ have lost their third wicket of the day very quickly. The first 45 minutes saw no wickets and now suddenly Kiwis are losing the plot. But Conway is still there but he may run out of partners if England keep taking wickets like this.

16:48:33 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 292/5—WICKET. Another one goes down…is England making a comeback? Mark Wood gets another wicket in a quick succession. BJ Watling is the man dismissed and he was clueless to say the least. This one from Wood pitched out side off deviated a bit, took Watling’s edge, reached the slip cordon where Dom Sibley took an amazing catch. Two quick wickets, finally England are back in this.

16:24:40 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 288/4—WICKET…Henry Nicholls is dismissed against run of play. He is out for 68 and that century was there for the taking surely on a pitch which is tailor made for Test match batting. None the less, excellent bowling from England. Mark Wood bowled a bouncer and Nicholls was never in the position to tackle it. Scooped it into the air and Robbinson completed an easy catch at Fine Leg.

16:21:11 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 280/3…………. This was Robbinson earlier in the day. “On the biggest day of my career so far, I am embarrassed by the racist and sexist tweets that I posted over eight years ago, which have today become public,” Robinson said in a statement. “I want to make it clear that I’m not racist and I’m not sexist. “I deeply regret my actions, and I am ashamed of making such remarks. I would like to unreservedly apologise to anyone I have offended, my teammates and the game as a whole in what has been a day of action and awareness in combatting discrimination from our sport.”

16:08:48 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 280/3…England bowler Ollie Robinson has “unreservedly apologised” after admitting to posting “racist and sexist” comments on social media as a teenager, back in 2012-13. The tweets were directed at Muslims, suggesting the community is linked with terrorism, and also derogatory remarks about women from Asian heritage. “On the biggest day of my career so far, I am embarrassed by the racist and sexist tweets that I posted over eight years ago, which have today become public,” Robinson said in a statement. “I want to make it clear that I’m not racist and I’m not sexist.

15:53:00 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 268/3. 150 FOR CONWAY….. Kiwis are quickly gaining the upper hand here. A couple of boundaries from Nicholls and Conway each and England are given a reality check early on Day 2. Four pacers bowling in tandem doesn’t look that effective. So who do they bowl? Root?? Who hasn’t got any turn whatsoever.

15:37:48 IST

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score: NZ 250/3. First over of the day and fetches Kiwis three runs as they move to 250. The wicket was a bit two-paced intiially yesterday, doesn’t look so now. NZ are in no mood to lose wickets against the run of play. Two well-set batters at the crease, onus on England to induce and edge and grabbed the breakthrough. Andreson opened the proceedings and now the ball has been thrown to Stuart Broad.

15:19:24 IST

Former England coach Bayliss has joined Sydney Thunders. Here’s the details: World Cup-winning coach Trevor Bayliss is leaving England and will return home to take charge of the Sydney Thunder for the next three Twenty20 Big Bash League seasons. The 58-year-old Bayliss led England to the ODI Cricket World Cup at Lord’s in 2019 and twice won the Indian Premier League while in charge of the Kolkata Knight Riders. He also led the Sydney Sixers to the title in the inaugural season of the BBL a decade ago.

15:09:05 IST

Day two will be the key…a lot of cricket experts and former cricketers were not happy with the way England played four seamers where the ball had hardly turned. Remember, England played Anderson, Broad, Wood and debutante Robbinson. That hardly affected the Kiwis who went onto post 246/3 when the Stumps were called on Day 1.

14:59:27 IST

“I will continue to educate myself, look for advice and work with the support network that is available to me to learn more about getting better in this area. I am sorry, and I have certainly learned my lesson today.” Even though the comment were made years ago, Robinson could still face some disciplinary action. This is what Tom Harrison had to say: “I do not have the words to express how disappointed I am that an England Men’s player has chosen to write tweets of this nature, however long ago that might have been.”

14:50:11 IST

This is stark contrast to what the English board preaches. Earlier, they had unveiled their training kit which bears slogans like ‘cricket is a game for everyone’ on the front and denouncing racism, sexism and religious intolerance on the back. “I don’t want something that happened eight years ago to diminish the efforts of my teammates and the ECB as they continue to build meaningful action with their comprehensive initiatives and efforts, which I fully endorse and support,” Robinson continued.

Hello and welcome to day two of the first Test at Lord’s between England and New Zealand. The Kiwis are in a commanding position with debutant Devon Conway leading the way with a solid 136 not out. NZ are 246-3 currently and England will have to look for early wickets here.

England vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Live Score:

England 25-2 at tea, New Zealand 378 all out. Zak Crawley and Dom Sibley fell early; Kyle Jamieson got Sibley lbw while Crawley fell to Tim Southee. Devon Conway made a double century to push NZ to a good score. Only the second double ton on Test debut by an NZ batsman.

After tea, Conway continued to impress and reached his century off his 163rd ball, whipping Robinson for a boundary. England’s chance to break through was with the second new ball, but six overs into the new cherry, they have not managed that yet. England’s decision to play without a specialist spinner might have worked against them. Only five other batsmen had previously scored a Test debut hundred at Lord’s, with Conway the first New Zealand international to achieve the feat.
