With the imminent end of the curfew in sight, terrasses in Montreal seem to be getting all the attention , but that’s not the only activity to enjoy in the evening.

Cinémas Guzzo CEO Vincenzo Guzzo, announced on Wednesday that all of his nine theatre locations in Quebec would be reopening on the same day that curfews lift.

“I’m confident people will return to cinemas as they are tired of being confined mainly to their homes and they crave that special movie-going experience,” Guzzo said in the statement. “We’ve been closed since late September of last year and from the overwhelming feedback we’ve received, it’s clear that our loyal customers are anxiously awaiting our reopening.”

In February, the local movie theatre magnate criticized the Legault government allowing theatres to reopen but without the consumption of food, a move that would reportedly result in losses of up to 75 per cent .

Even with the curfew no longer in place and moviegoers able to start watching a film after dinner time, the announced reopening of the theatres may see some of those losses once again: Under the Quebec government’s reopening plan, Montreal and Laval theatres will not be able sell concessions until their red zone status is changed to orange on June 7 .
