The scammers inform the citizen that he or she has an active warrant or summons for their arrest and that they need to pay various amounts of money via a gift card in order to avoid being arrested.
The scammers have used different telephone numbers, often times spoofing telephone numbers of the Sheriff’s Office which the citizen is directed to call to provide the number from the card for payment.
These are well-documented scams with the sole purpose being financial gain through fraudulent pretenses and are not associated with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office in any capacity. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office wants to ensure the citizens that none of our personnel would ever contact you to tell you we are going to arrest you if you don’t pay the demanded money.
