Real Madrid are increasingly confident of prising Carlo Ancelotti from Everton and reappointing him as their new manager.

David Moyes is likely to come under consideration as the task of formulating a shortlist of candidates to replace the Italian at Goodison Park begins along with Nuno Espírito Santo and Eddie Howe.

Ancelotti had previously dismissed reports of a return to the Bernabéu as successor to Zinédine Zidane, but the Real president, Florentino Pérez, has been persuasive in turning his head.

The departure of Ancelotti after 18 months at Goodison Park leaves Everton searching for a sixth permanent manager of the owner Farhad Moshiri’s reign.

Moyes, who steered West Ham United into Europe by finishing sixth in the Premier League last season, was interviewed by Everton
