Knicks vs. Hawks score: Live NBA playoff updates as New York looks to even series vs. Trae Young, Atlanta

The Atlanta Hawks spoiled the New York Knicks’ return to the postseason, thanks to Trae Young’s clutch game-winning shot. It silenced the raucous fans inside Madison Square Garden, and, more importantly, gave Atlanta a 1-0 first-round series lead. The Knicks are still struggling a bit and Young has already reached the 20-point threshold in Game 2.

Knicks fans have waited a long time to see their team win a playoff game — eight years and counting. It almost happened Sunday, but Young and the fifth-seeded Hawks had other plans. New York took a lead into the fourth after outscoring Atlanta in the second and third periods, but could not hang on for the elusive postseason win. Young, making his playoff debut, scored a game-high 32 points, while Alec Burks led the No. 4 Knicks with 27 off the bench. All-Star Julius Randle struggled in his first playoff game, finishing with 15 points on 6-of-23 shooting from the field. He finished the first half of Game 2 with just two points.
