Oilers Team Scope

The Oilers have suffered two straight overtime losses against the Winnipeg Jets, seeing a three-goal, third-period advantage disappear over three minutes in Sunday’s 5-4 overtime loss. 

“Winning is hard and there are painful lessons you need to learn to win. We learned some hard lessons on what not to do to win in the playoffs,” Head Coach Dave Tippett said post-game.

After scoring just one goal in the opening two contests of the series, the Oilers cracked Connor Hellebuyck with four in Game 3. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl tallied three points apiece while Jujhar Khaira and Zack Kassian provided the club with some secondary scoring. 

Jets Team Scope

The Winnipeg Jets have a stranglehold on the series, leading three games to none with a chance to sweep the Oilers Monday at Bell MTS Place.

The Jets have received contributions from their superstars, superb goaltending from Hellebuyck and additional support from depth and role-players throughout the seven-game set.

Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele lead the team in playoff scoring with three points apiece while Nikolaj Ehlers scored two goals in his post-season debut Sunday. Hellebuyck is 3-0 with a 1.66 goals-against average and has 114 saves on 119 shots against overall for a .957 save percentage.

Head-to-Head:

McDavid has three assists in three post-season games against the Jets and Draisaitl has two goals and one assist. The Oilers Captain has 10 goals and 41 points in 23 career regular-season encounters with the Jets. Draisaitl has 15 goals, 15 assists and 30 points in 25 career regular-season games against WPG.

Paul Stastny has 13 goals, 34 assists and 47 points in 68 career games against the Oilers. Ehlers has seven goals and 18 points in 21 career regular-season games vs. EDM. Scheifele has nine goals and 19 points all-time versus the Oilers in the regular season while captain Blake Wheeler has eight goals and 28 points in 33 games.
