Leafs’ John Tavares released from hospital, out ‘indefinitely’

John Tavares is out of St. Michael’s Hospital, but also out of the Maple Leafs lineup for awhile.

The Toronto captain suffered head trauma in an accidental collision with Montreal forward Corey Perry on Thursday night in Game 1 of the opening round.

Tavares was examined by a neurosurgical team at St. Mike’s as well as a club specialist and released Friday, the team said in a release. He is resting at home under observation of a team physician.

He “will be out indefinitely,” the release said.
