Tavares was examined by a neurosurgical team at St. Mike’s as well as a club specialist and released Friday, the team said in a release. He is resting at home under observation of a team physician.
He “will be out indefinitely,” the release said.
Tavares was on the ice several minutes after he was spun to the ice by a check and put in the path of a rushing Perry, whose left knee impacted his head and cut him as well. A dazed Tavares was stretchered off the ice.
The Leafs practice at noon Friday.
