Sheffield United have suffered a triple injury blow ahead of tonight’s game with the news that Sander Berge, Oliver Burke and Ethan Ampadu may not play again this season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday, interim manager Paul Heckingbottom says he is not expecting all three to feature again.

He told Yorkshire Live:

“We’ve picked up a few niggles and injuries.

“Burke has got a fracture in his foot, which will put him out for the season.

“Sander has picked up a little niggle in the last game, so we will have to assess him between now and the end of the season, but we won’t take any risk.

“With Sander, let me stress, it’s nothing to do with his previous injury, that’s 100% fine, but just the nature of being out for so long and he’s been pushing himself to be back fit. He’s played moments in games for us and has picked up natural other niggles that comes along with it.

“So we won’t be risking him. If he is fit, fine no problem, but this stage of the season, where we are and the fact he has been out for such a long period of time and worked really hard to come back we won’t risk him between now and the end of the season.

“With Burke we will be led by the scans on that.

“When you get a fracture in the foot you can have straightforward ones where you stick a boot on and let it heal naturally or there are ones where you need surgery and pins, so we will be led by the scans on that and will be led by the medical team.

“Ethan has got pelvic issues, which he has had for a while and naturally most footballers have, he’s been managing that throughout the season but it has got worse and worse and has gradually flared up.

“He will probably be out for the season.”
