‘Great team to go to’ – Wilfried Zaha sent Newcastle United transfer message

Zaha #Zaha

Crystal Palace talisman Wilfried Zaha has been told Newcastle United ‘would be a great team to go to’ this summer.

That’s the view of pundit Marcus Bent, who believes the Magpies would provide a ‘bigger pedestal’ for the Ivory Coast international to showcase his talents.

Zaha has long been linked with an exit from Selhurst Park, with the Eagles turning down a £70m bid plus James McCarthy and Cenk Tosun from Everton in the summer of 2019.

The 28-year-old’s contract at Palace does not expire until the summer of 2023, but each passing transfer window brings renewed speculation over the forward’s future.

Zaha has already matched his best goals return in the Premier League this season, with 10 strikes to his name and three matches left to add to that tally.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham as well as the Toffees are considered the forward’s most likely destination this summer according to the bookmakers.

However, former Palace striker Bent has surprisingly named Newcastle as an option for Zaha. The Magpies previously tried to sign the forward twice from Manchester United, according to former manager Alan Pardew.

Bent told This is Futbol : “Zaha has not been that consistent this year, but we know he’s a talent. We spoke about him going to Everton, two years ago Everton would have snapped at the chance, but I don’t think he’s a player they want.

“Newcastle would be a great team to go to. He needs a bigger pedestal to play on and better players around him.”
