There are four Group status races on the card, the first of note being Race 5 when the two-year-old J.J. Atkins hopes face off in the Group 2 $250,000 Spirit Of Boom Classic (1200m) – formerly the Champagne Classic.

The 2021 Spirit Of Boom Classic field is down to 11 after the early withdrawal of the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Kalashnikov (10)  and Menazzi (9), and betting at Ladbrokes.com.au is led by the Chris Waller-trained Giannis.

Next-up the Queensland Derby types face off in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate (2000m) with Blaze A Trail, Achiever, Fortified and Stylebender all coming out of the starting line-up that is now led in betting by another Waller runner in Senor Toba.

The big event on the program that kicks off elite level racing for the winter in Queensland is the Group 1 $1 million Doomben 10,000 (1200m) and all 11 original acceptors for Race 7 remain in contention including the red-hot favourite Eduardo.
