Despite there being only 10 games remaining in the 2020-21 NBA season, the Kings still are actively working to revamp their roster. After signing Chimezie Metu and Damian Jones on Wednesday, they are ready to make another transaction to fill out the roster.

According to a league source, the Kings are set to sign Louis King to a two-way contract. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was first with the news. 

King spent a lone season at Oregon before going undrafted in the 2019 NBA Draft. He signed a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons in July of 2019, but appeared in just 10 games for Detroit and hasn’t seen NBA action since.

Listed at 6-foot-7, 205 pounds, King can play either the shooting guard or small forward position. In 46 career games at the G League level, the 22-year-old averaged 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. He’s a 37 percent career shooter from 3-point range and he knocked down 45.6 percent of his shots from three in the G League bubble earlier this year.

By adding King now, Sacramento gets a shot to bring the prospect in the building and see if he is a long-term fit. It also allows the team to have some control over his rights heading into next season.

With King on the squad, the Kings roster now stands at 17 players.
