Louis Tomlinson was forced to postpone his first Australian tour in 2020 in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

And the former One Direction star, 29, has now announced new dates after his rescheduled 2021 tour wasn’t able to go ahead.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the 29-year-old singer said he hoped to return to Australia in July next year.

‘Let’s try this one last time! All shows on my world tour will be moving back to 2022 and I’m excited to announce the first wave of new dates. I can’t wait to see you all soon, it’s going to be special,’ he wrote alongside his new tour dates.

Louis will perform in Brisbane on July 20 and in Sydney on July 22, before heading to Melbourne on July 25 and concluding his tour in Perth on July 29.

His New Zealand dates are yet to be announced.

Louis was due to tour his debut solo album, Walls, in April 2020 but was forced to postpone the Australian and New Zealand dates at the last minute.

‘I’m really gutted but of course the health and safety of all of my fans and tour crew needs to come first. I’ll be announcing the new dates very soon. Stay safe,’ he said in a statement at the time.

He was set to perform in Auckland on April 23, before making his way to Australia, with concerts scheduled for April 25 in Sydney and April 27 in Melbourne.

In an interview with Pedestrian in December 2019, Louis said he was ‘proper excited’ to be returning to Australia after previously touring the country with One Direction.

‘The gigs are always incredible and also, for any Brit, it’s the ultimate dream to travel to Australia,’ he said at the time.

‘It’s not going to be a massive production with any gimmicks, it’s just going to be pretty straightforward. Just a good live show focusing on music and hopefully we’ll have a good night.’

Arguably one of the biggest boy bands of all time, One Direction announced they were taking an indefinite hiatus at the end of 2015.

These days, Louis says he has nothing but ‘love’ for his old band.

‘I f**king love the boys, and I love everything we’ve done together. And I still miss my time with them,’ he told Rolling Stone in January, referring to his former bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne.

‘I think any of the boys would be lying if they said otherwise. It was a special time in our lives, definitely.’
