The stats: Harvey is batting .472 with 16 doubles, three triples, three home runs with 45 RBIs this season. She has helped Lovejoy, the No. 6-ranked team in The Dallas Morning News’ Class 5A/Others area poll, to a 27-10-1 record heading in a Region II quarterfinal matchup against Frisco Heritage.
She said it: “The hit that will stick with me the most was the home run in the second game. I thought I popped it up. I didn’t think it would get out. I’ve never had a a two-game stretch like this. I may have gone 4 for 4 in a game before, but nothing like this. I just felt like I was in a zone. They were throwing me inside fastballs, which I like. Playing like this is very relieving. I’ve seen players in the playoffs get nervous, but I’ve been super-calm and not stressed out.”
Coach said it: “Off the field, Hannah is very soft-spoken, very reserved, very well-mannered. On the field she is a softballer, and with every single at-bat she is a competitor. She has succeeded as a second baseman and shortstop because of her athleticism and her attention to detail. She is one of the best athletes I have seen in 14 years of coaching softball,” — Lovejoy coach D.J. Lopez said.
Did you know? Harvey is tentatively planning on majoring in business in college. She said she would like to run her own title company or work with helping people buy homes. … Harvey’s favorite courses in school are math, especially geometry, and child development. … Her favorite hobby is gouache painting, focusing on painting of another image, such as a photo. … Harvey’s dream meal would include filet mignon, lobster, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, crème brulee, water and Dr Pepper. … Harvey’s favorite softball player is Nicole “Sis” Bates, a two-time All-American shortstop who helped the Washington advance to the Women’s College World Series three straight years (2017-19). “I like the way she carries herself and her attitude for the game,” Harvey said.
