Where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Irving

It’s Cinco de Mayo, which commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory over French forces in the Battle of Puebla in 1862, and Irving restaurants are celebrating with live music, complimentary tastings and frozen margarita stations.

Hugo’s Invitados is planning complimentary tastings, top-shelf tequila, DJs on the patio and games. Open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 5240 N O’Connor Blvd.

Mexican Sugar will host a party from 4 to 10 p.m. with a frozen margarita station, live music, selfie station and tequila tastings. 3215 Regent Blvd.

Head to Mattito’s for happy hour, from 3 to 6 p.m., $5 Big Glass Margaritas and Tex-Mex favorites like brisket tacos and fajitas. 1001 MacArthur Park

Gipsy Lime Taco Lounge is known for inventive tacos. Think jerk chicken, English fish and chips or Louisiana Po’ Boy. Open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 8701 Cypress Waters Blvd.

La Margarita Mod Mexican Kitchen and Rita Lounge will have its usual Tex-Mex classics and craft margaritas, like strawberry jalapeño, hibiscus and prickly pear. Open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. 2922 N Belt Line Road

For happy hour, try Texican Court Two Mules Beer Garden. The patio will have $5 and $6 margaritas, empanadas, street tacos and flautas. Happy hour is 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. 501 W. Las Colinas Blvd.

Arturo’s has an extensive menu that includes ceviche, Mexican pizza and lengua tacos, plus plenty of margarita options. Open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. 1810 W. Irving Blvd.
