Yankees’ Rougned Odor hurt, leaves game

NEW YORK — The Yankees got the run, but lost their second baseman.

For how long? Who knows.

Second baseman Rougned Odor left with an injury in the sixth inning of a tense game with the Astros at Yankee Stadium.

Odor got tangled up with Astros catcher Martin Maldonado, appearing to wrench his left leg. Odor, who grabbed at his left hamstring, needed help getting off the field. He was shown on TV walking under his own power in the dugout.

Tyler Wade replaced Odor in the next half inning.

Maldonado also left the game and was replaced by Jason Castro.

Odor’s run was the third to score on DJ LeMahieu’s bases-clearing infield single, which third baseman Alex Bregman threw away while trying to get the ball to first base with two outs. It turned a 3-all tie to a 6-3 Yankees lead, which Giancarlo Stanton would then extend with an RBI single up the middle and through the shift. Odor had walked to get on base.

It was unclear exactly happened to Odor and Maldonado. We’ll update when there’s more information.
