Melbourne will announce Christian Petracca’s mammoth contract extension as early as Wednesday.
Foxfooty.com.au has confirmed Channel 7’s report, which revealed the Demons star would shun rival clubs to pen a long-term extension.
The Demons were planning on making the good news public on Wednesday.

Petracca, 25, has put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain at the club until the end of 2029, effectively making him a Demon for life.
He will be 33 by the time it expires.
In a win for the on-fire Dees, foxfooty.com.au understands Petracca has signed for under $1 million per year across seven seasons, a figure he was expected to command elsewhere if he tested the market.
On Tuesday night sources familiar with the arrangement said the deal was worth between $6 and 6.5 million for its duration.
The 2020 best and fairest and All-Australian was already locked in until the end of 2022, but decided to extend in recent weeks.
Then it was just a matter for his manager Robbie D‘Orazio and the club to reach an agreement, which they formally ticked off on early this week.
Petracca was committed to staying on a long-term arrangement and did not want to eek out every last dollar from Melbourne to the detriment of his teammates. The Demons have been busy recently, locking in Max Gawn (2025), Christian Salem (2026) and Clayton Oliver (2023) to new contracts.
Petracca has played 109 games since debuting in 2016, booting 102 goals.
He finished equal third in the 2020 Brownlow Medal.
