Souness: Someone threw a can of beer that could have killed us

Souness #Souness

Graeme Souness wasn’t entirely supportive of the protests that took place at Old Trafford on Sunday, forcing Manchester United’s game against Liverpool to be postponed.

Supporters made it into the stadium and onto the pitch and projectiles were launched at the Sky Sports pundits inside.

“That isn’t a laughable situation,” Souness said on Sky Sports afterwards, still inside Old Trafford.

“Someone threw a full can of beer at us, if that clips you in the wrong place, that might even kill you.

“That is unacceptable.”

Fellow pundits Micah Richards and ex-Manchester United legend Roy Keane were largely supportive of the protests, and Keane – expectedly – argued back with Souness that “in any protest, you’re going to get a couple of idiots and nobody is applauding them for throwing bottles”.
