The Cincinnati Bengals ended speculation about whether they’re #TeamChase or #TeamSewell by selecting Louisiana State University Tigers wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase – Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow’s former teammate at LSU – with the fifth overall pick of the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The Detroit Lions selected Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Penei Sewell two picks later at No. 7 overall.

The #Bengals select at No. 5 overall #LSU WR Ja’Marr Chase. Easy selection for Cincy, who got to fall in love with Joe Burrow all over again while watching Chase film from last year. Two Tigahs back together.

OC Brian Callahan on passing on Penei Sewell: “There were really good players in this draft… The guys that are going to get taken on the offensive line are going to be really good players. Ja’Marr Chase we felt like was the best player for us.”

— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) April 30, 2021

Brian Callahan: The first four picks kind of went the way we thought they would. #Bengals
