MasterChef guest star Massimo Bottura shares the secret to the PERFECT Mac and Cheese

MasterChef viewers were left ‘drooling’ on Tuesday night, after renown Italian chef Massimo Bottura taught contestants how to cook ‘perfect’ mac and cheese.

The 58-year-old appeared on the show via a video call from his home in Modena, Italy, where he challenged the group to cook their own version of his calorific dish with whatever ingredients they desired.

Unveiling the secrets behind his own recipe, Massimo first began by choosing the ‘best and oldest’ Parmiagiano-Reggiano cheese, before pouring warm water on top and letting it sit in the refrigerator.

This water would then be used to cook the pasta, and help to create the best and most crunchy texture possible.

Instead of a traditional béchamel sauce, Massimo decided to make a Parmiagiano-Reggiano cream.

He allowed some cream to boil on a pan, before heading into the fridge and finding some leftover Pecorino cheese and butter.

‘I put everything in. Because mac and cheese is… mac, and cheese,’ he laughed, before urging viewers not to waste anything in their pantry and always experiment with new flavours.
