Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reportedly thinking about another run for president in 2024.
Christie hasn’t spoken publicly about throwing his hat in the ring other than telling radio host Hugh Hewitt that he won’t rule out running against former President Donald Trump in a primary again, Axios reported on Wednesday.
But the outlet noted that if Trump doesn’t seek election in 2024, the candidate field would be wide open.
Trump told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in an interview Monday that he’s still thinking about it.
“I miss the most, helping people,” Trump said.
“That’s why I did it. Look, this has been very traumatic. I had a great life, great company, great business, no problems and now all I do is, people go after you. It’s vicious, it’s horrible but you know what? I loved doing it because I helped people. And I’ve helped them more than any president,” he said.
Christie, 58, who worked on Trump’s transition in 2016, has told friends, according to Axios, that he would be the only person running in 2024 with executive experience who has run a presidential campaign before.
He dropped out of the presidential race in February 2016.

The report, citing a source, said Christie could appeal to Trump’s base because of his toughness, and noted that the former governor has a mix of combativeness and charisma that Republicans feel would be important in taking on President Biden or another Democrat.
Christie would also find support from suburban voters.
He could also build on his background as a former federal prosecutor to burnish his law enforcement credentials and help him stand out during the debates.
