MANALAPAN, NJ – Over $1,500 in merchandise was shoplifted from a Manlapan grocery store earlier this month, authorities said.

On April 4 at around 4:32 p.m., employees of the Wegmans supermarket on Route 9 South reported that approximately $1,526 in items were removed from the store, according to a press release from Manalapan police.

Deputy Chief Leonard Maltese told Patch that a summons was issued on April 16 to Edwin M. Lopez, 35, of Perth Amboy, for shoplifting the various steak products.

Ptl. James Guarino and Ptl. Charles Alaimo responded to the incident.
