Norwich City are promoted to the Premier League

Championship: Swansea come from two goals down to draw with Wycombe. It’s a result that isn’t much use to either side but has catapulted Norwich City back into the Premier League. Congratulations to Daniel Farke and his troops who bounce straight back into the top flight following their relegation last season.

Premier League: It’s all over at St James’ Park, where Newcastle have emerged victorious by the odd goal of five in the third consecutive Saturday lunchtime Premier League humdinger. They pull nine points clear of the relegation zone, having got a late scare from 10-man West Ham. David Moyes’ side stay in fourth place, a point clear of Chelsea who have played one game fewer.

Championship: I’ll happily stand corrected on this but Sheffield Wednesday look to be heading to the third division for the first time in my lifetime (I’ll be raising my bat to the pavilion in two years, with a bit of luck) and possibly ever. Tyreeq Bakinson has just equalised for Bristol City at Hillsborough, where it’s 1-1.

Premier League: Down by the technical area, Steve Bruce’s eyes almost pop out of his head as he sees the fourth official signal eight minutes of added time. That seems a little excessive although there were several substitutions plus a couple of breaks in play for treatment to various players.

Premier League: Things go from great to bad to worse for West Ham, as Jesse Lingard limps off and is replaced by Manuel Lanzini. It looks like it might be a hamstring injury, which would be a season-ender. West Ham fans will be hoping it’s just cramp. He is not feeling the back of his thigh, which I suppose is a good sign.

Championship: Luton have gone a goal ahead against Watford at Kenilworth Road, while Swansea have pulled one back against Wycombe, who lead them by the odd goal of three. It remains Brentford 0-0 Millwall and as things stand Norwich will get promoted to the Premier League without having to kick a ball in their game against Bournemouth tonight.

Premier League: Already on a yellow card, Dawson lunges in on Saint-Maximin on the halfway line. The Newcastle man stays on his feet and keeps going, as Kevin Friend plays advantage. ASM jinks his way into the penalty area and unleashes a low diagonal effort. The ball is saved by Fabianski but cannons off the legs of Diop and rolls over the line. Insult is added to injury, when Friend produces a second yellow followed by a red for Dawson for his foul in the build-up. Remarkably, that’s the first dismissal of his career.
