Phil Foden never hides, says Pep Guardiola

Phil Foden last night took Manchester City and Pep Guardiola a step closer to ending their Champions League curse as he set up a mouthwatering semi-final meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 20-year-old City midfielder became only the fifth English player to score in both legs of the competition’s quarter-final when his second-half goal gave City a 2-1 win, and 4-2 aggregate victory.

It sets up the prospect of Guardiola taking on the former Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino in the two-legged semi-final. And victory not only kept Guardiola on course for his first Champions League final in ten years, and an unprecedented quadruple, but also ended a dispiriting run of three consecutive years in which he has exited at the quarter-final stage.
