Hunter Biden jokes that keeping his pants on was a ‘problem’ when he was on crack

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter joked that “pants were the problem” during his crack-addled days in a lighthearted interview with late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel to promote his new memoir.

He took a swipe at former President Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and he also defended his controversial appointment to the board of a Ukrainian energy company.

But he laughed off Kimmel’s jokes about photos reportedly recovered from a laptop abandoned in a Delaware repair shop that show Biden posing in sunglasses, underpants, and tennis shoes.

“I saw you talking about the laptop in interviews, and it became a big thing. And when you are asked if it’s your laptop, you say you don’t know,” Kimmel said. “And that is hard to believe unless you read the book, and then I’m surprised you have shoes on.”

Biden, whose book describes his battles with an alcohol and drug addiction, said: “Yeah, I made it today. Pants were the problem.”

Biden said his book was an attempt to “humanize” himself after his troubles were used by Republicans to attack his father’s presidential campaign.

Kimmel asked him whether it made him angry when someone like Donald Trump Jr. said any success he had enjoyed in life was the result of being a Biden.

“It is wildly comical,” he said. “That is putting it lightly, but I don’t spend too much time thinking about it.”

His position on the board of the Ukrainian company Burisma, at a time when his father was vice president and former President Barack Obama’s point man on relations with Kyiv, was subject to intense scrutiny, and it catapulted him to the center of Trump’s first impeachment trial.

Critics wondered how a figure with little experience in the energy world could have ended up in such a lucrative position.

“Go to the beginning,” said Biden, defending his appointment. “I went to Yale Law School. I served on a dozen boards before Burisma. I was a vice chairman of the board in Amtrak and chairman of the board at the World Food Program U.S., supporting the largest humanitarian organization in the world.”

“I had an expertise in corporate governance, and I was a lawyer, which was how I was first approached. However, what I didn’t take into account was the way in which they would use the perception against my dad,” he said. “I would not do it again for that reason.”
