Jake Quickenden has opened up on fatherhood and said so far it’s been ‘tough, but the most amazing thing’.
The former X Factor star, 32, welcomed his first child with his partner Sophie Church, 27, last month.
Enjoying every minute of his ‘baby bubble’, Jake took to Instagram to share a positive message with fans as lockdown restrictions eased once again on Monday.
New measures allow up to six people or two households to mix outdoors in public and in private gardens and sharing his excitement over the changes, Jake reflected on the past year of the coronavirus pandemic as well as becoming a dad.
Alongside an adorable photo of his baby boy, Jake wrote: ‘MONDAY FEELS… Happy Monday guys, rule of six is in, see those friends in the garden enjoy peoples company, sports for kids starting outside 🙌🏼, we are getting closer, it’s been a horrible year but we are coming to the end of this s**t show.

‘I totally understand it’s not been easy but it’s taught me to love more, to appreciate the small things like a hug and a handshake! I wanna send my love to everyone.’
Jake then addressed cruel trolling he’s been subjected to over pictures he had posted of his online and added: ‘Be kind, have an opinion but if it’s not welcome on someone’s page just scroll past and go on with your day.’
He told fans: ‘This baby bubble is amazing, it’s tough but the most amazing thing. ❤️’
Jake’s post came after he was recently seen hitting back at trolls for targeting four-week old Leo. They’d joked his son ‘needed Botox’ and was ‘weird-looking’, prompting Jake to publicly call out the vile comments.
Insisting he was ‘baffled’ by some people negatively commenting on his child, Jake fired back: ‘REAL POST… So in the past week this little man has been told he needs Botox, that he’s ugly as f**k and that he’s weird looking, me myself have also been told stay off social media if you don’t want to be trolled.
‘It’s so baffling to me that I should have to stay off social media if I don’t want my four-week-old trolled. I don’t mind people giving me s**t, as sad as it is I’ve had to get used to being called “irrelevant“, “ugly“, “attention seeking“ and the list goes on but to troll an innocent child is so wrong and the people doing it seriously need to seek help.’

While he insisted that it hasn’t put him off using social media, he called for something to be done about those who use it to target others.

‘Maybe people just shouldn’t troll. I enjoy social media, it’s full of lovely people who are supportive and I like sharing my ups and downs.
‘I try and be real as possible, but unfortunately there is a dark side of social media and something needs doing about it.’
While Leo is Jake’s first child, his girlfriend Sophie is already mum to son Freddie, six, from a previous relationship.
